| Growing
up in the home of avid rock collecters, my parents taught me to always
look around you for beauty. To this day when I walk I still spend
most of time time focusing on the ground beneath my feet for whatever
'finds' I might encounter. |
|
| I
was blessed with being taught to facet by my father Charles Covill
whose design books you find located on the faceting books page. |
|
| Many lessons were also spent at the dinning room table which consisted of wirewrapping and stone identification. |
|
| My
mother Patricia Covill was kind enough to teach me the fine art of
cabochoning in the family rock room. Mom passed away December 8, 2009. My mom was as much a master
of the cabochon machines as my dad is the faceting machine. What
do you mean - your family doesn't have a rock room? Trust
me you don't know what you are missing. |
|
| Today
I still have my parents homemade 6 barrel rock tumbler going on my back
deck. I am also an active member of the Austin Gem and Mineral
Society and can never get enough of those 'oh so pretty' rocks! |
|
| I have in turn passed this love for rock hounding on to my children, who with hope will pass it on to their children. |
